 Harlan D. Kahn has a broad multidisciplinary practice that focuses on corporate and real estate law, secured lending, and securities law. Mr. Kahn's practice includes extensive experience in structuring and negotiating transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions of businesses and real estate; ordinary course contract negotiations; formation and organization of start-up businesses; and general business counseling. Mr. Kahn also has extensive experience in private securities offerings to raise initial and later-stage capital; equity investments; succession planning and asset protection. Mr. Kahn serves as counsel to several lenders and borrowers in the documentation of secured loans. Mr. Kahn acts as de facto general counsel for clients in a wide variety of industries, including plastics; metals processing, fabrication and recycling; printing; financial services; real estate services; management consulting; information technology consulting; and human resources and staffing. In addition, Mr. Kahn represents a number of restaurants and retailers in all aspects of their businesses. Mr. Kahn assists clients in the formation of shareholder, member and partner relationships and the resolution of related disputes.
Mr. Kahn graduated from the University of Michigan Law School, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in May 1986. Prior to that, he attended the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and Arts and he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with Distinction in April 1983. He is a member of the American Bar Association, and the Corporation, Securities and Business Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association.
